Barbarian Romance

plaids, tartans, tweeds and argyles dominated Linlithgow Palace in Scotland yesterday, where Karl Lagerfeld showed his collection for Chanel pre-fall 2013. the inspiration all came from Scotland, of course, where Lagerfeld payed homage to Coco's time spent there with her lover, Duke of Westminster and also to Mary Queen of Scots.

the dramatic collars, high necks, earth tones and equestrian style ankle boots felt like the cross pollination of Chanel and Ralph Lauren in the 1700's, not to say that Lagerfeld would ever derive his genius from another designer. the romanticism of the Scottish countryside with it's castles and royals created a feeling of "Barbarian Romance" as described by the designer.

i'll take an immediate cue from the runway by wearing argyle tights with earth tones and a high neck blouse.
